BURIRAM, Thailand (12th May 2019) – Irish driver Lucca Allen reeled in a stunning victory after a massive battle with Finland’s Elias Seppanen in Race 4 of the FIA Formula 4 SEA Championship at the Buriram International Circuit this morning.
It was Allen’s second win here this weekend and his fourth for the season. Allen, winner of two races in Round 2 in Sepang last month, topped the podium in Race 2 yesterday. Lucca had a great start today and led the pack into Turn 1, under intense pressure from Seppanen throughout. But the Irish racer kept his cool to edge his rival by 0.447 seconds at the end, completing the 12-lap race in a time of 20 minutes 44.854 seconds.
Oman’s Shihab Al Habsi, winner of Race 1 on Friday and Race 3 yesterday, prevailed in his battle with Australian Josh Smith to finish third. Shihab was 5.424 seconds adrift of the winner’s time. Smith, who was trying hard to chase down Shihab, settled for fourth, with Malaysian Muizz Musyaffa finishing fifth.
Newcomers, Yash Aradhya (IND) and Folky Wongsechareon (THA) were next in sixth and seventh spots. India’s Sneha Sharma was eighth. Malaysia’s Alister Yoong was fifth across the finish line but was handed a 90-second penalty, causing him to drop to ninth.
Round 3 which concluded today will be followed by Round 4 at this same venue in just under a month’s time from June 14-16.
