Event 4

Australian driver Josh Smith’s consistency, mounting the podium in all four races here, assured him the champion’s title for Event 4 of the F4 SEA Championship – fueled by Petron – at the Buriram International Circuit.

Smith revelled in a week of highly competitive racing to win Race 2 this morning and finish second in three others. Thanks to his steady performance throughout, Smith secured a total 81 points to secure the title for this round.

“It was a perfect week for me, I finished in the top two in every race and this is obviously great for me,” said a thrilled Smith. “In the last race, I didn’t have the pace but I’m still happy and now looking forward to the next round (in Madras, India).”

Shihab Al Habsi from Oman was second overall in the Event 4 points standings with a total of 63 points which he earned from his stunning win in Race 3, plus a third placing in yesterday’s first race. Finland’s rookie driver Elias Seppanen was third overall with 57 points. He had three third finishes and was fourth in another race.

“I’m happy with my performance and will come back stronger in the next round. I will learn from my mistakes and will push harder the next time,” vowed Shihab.

Ireland’s Lucca Allen had won Race 1 and Race 4 this week but it was not enough to lead him to the overall title after a DNF in the second race a ninth placing in the third race.
